Floating hide is
for one person.
It is possible to photograph the Great Crested Grebe from the floating hide from the end of April until the beginning of July. It requires early rising, sleeplessness and a bit of madness, but everything is safe and birds are not disturbed. Of course it’s possible to use floating hide also in the evening if it’s hard for you to wake up so early.
We set off to the hide from Kuressaare about about an hour before the sunrise or about 2-3 hours before sunrise. After you have settled in at the hide, you start moving quietly along the lake shore now already with the floating hide. No sudden movements should be made in the hide.
Equipment
Fishing waders are definitely needed, beacuse phogrpaher walks in the water while using the floeating hide. The water temperatuure in the spring is still quite cold, so you also need warm trousers. In the floating hide it’s better to use beanbag or just a towel for camera instead of tripod head.
